Dress to Impress MEN....Not Women

Lip Gloss! There is one simple, inexpensive thing you can wear that MEN LOVE that you can get anywhere.  Ready.....Shiny Lip Gloss.  That's it.  Very lightly colored Shiny Lip Gloss.  True Story: I had worn the same outfit to work 3 or 4 times over a month.  One day I put on a shiny lip gloss.  The comments that I received from men at work was unbelievable.  Oh, they are all gentlemen, but several men that day told me that I looked nice, one even asked if I had colored my hair!    I just giggled to myself, but it sure did wonders for my confidence! The point here is....there are just certain things that men notice about women and if you want to make a man notice you, that's a simple change to make.

Pick one new TRENDY item to incorporate into your look each season.  Don't start piling on all the trendy stuff, just pick one or two easy things to update your existing wardrobe.  Spruce up your existing wardrobe for the holidays with touches or red or gold.  Add a solid red sweater that can be worn all winter.  Avoid anything printed with snowflakes or snowmen that limits it to the holiday season only.  Adding bright red or gold accessories to even an all black outfit can turn something plain into something festive.  Find a color that you look GREAT in and people compliment you when you wear it.  For example, I have  a lot of lime green because people always comment on how great I look in it.   FORGET THOSE OLD  COLOR SEASONS - LET ME TELL YOU WHY.  I am a natural red-head, but my red is deep auburn, not orange red.  All of my life, people tried to tell me that I needed to wear "fall colors".  What I feel good in and look GREAT in is WINTER colors or JEWEL-TONES as I call them.   So most of my clothes (other than the basics of black, tan & brown) are different shades of jewel toned colors.  I can wear every color of green,  as long as the color is rich & intense.  I can wear emerald green, but not moss green.  I can wear fuschia, but not soft rose.  The pale, washed out shades of any color immedately add 10 years to my face and that's NOT WHAT I WANT!  Remember, when you try on clothes, you want items that make YOU come alive!  You want people to see you, not your clothes!

Men DO Notice Purses! They just do.  One thing that turns a man OFF is anything that reminds them of their GRANDMOTHER.  Carrying a BIG GRANNY PURSE is one of the worst things you can do to attract a man's attention.  You don't have to spend a fortune on a trendy purse.  Some of the national department stores carry great purses in the $20-$45 range that are quite good quality.  A cute purse makes you appear more feminine and that makes men want to open the doors for you!  Try this easy trick and notice how many open doors for you - and you better let them!  Don't be afraid to be a lady!

Just remember, NO CHIPPED POLISH!  Learn to do quick & easy touch-ups!

If you wear open-toed shoes, be sure your toenails are painted a pretty pink or rose color.  You don't have to get a pedicure to have nice-looking tootsie toes!  Leave the dark and black nailpolish to the younger girls.  That's not the look you want to go for - unless you want to attract dracula!  And while we're on the subject of toes - NO GRANNY SHOES!  Remember what I said about reminding him of his granny?  You don't always have to have on 3" heels, but pretty shoes and toes are something men notice.  It also tells the guy that you take care of yourself and are concerned with your appearance.

ACCESSORIZE! Updating your look with accessories can be easy and inexpensive.  My most useful trick is to check out the trends in magazines, online and on the street.  I then take a good look at what the accessories I already have & figure out a few things I could purchase to create different looks with the clothes I already have.  It's like a game that there are no real rules for.  There are lots of craft shows, women's expos and web sites that have a great variety to choose from.  Men DO notice if you keep on current clothing & accessory trends.  Many men have this real fear that you will "let yourself go" once you're with a man.  By doing simple things that say you take care of yourself, it conveys to men that you value yourself and remember, CONFIDENCE is everything! Homework:  Pick ONE accessory that you've never felt that confident in wearing AND PRACTICE YOUR CONFIDENCE!  This summer, I'm "training" myself to wear dangly earrings.  Dangly earrings convey the message that you're adventurous, fun and a little sexy!
